The Anton Chico Ranch is a contiguous tract of native grass rangeland consisting of 3,056 deeded acres located within the Anton Chico Land Grant, Sam Miguel County, New Mexico. The site location is approximately 13 miles south of the Village of Bernal and the Bernal Store. Bernal is located off I-25 between Santa Fe and Las Vegas, New Mexico.

The Anton Chico Ranch is situated within the Anton Chico Land Grant adjacent to the Tecolote Land Grant on the east and southern boundary. The Santa Fe National Forest is adjacent to the ranch to the west and north of the ranch. The area is remote and sparsely populated. Access is by County roads, Forest Service roads and two track dirt roads. There are no utilities to the property.

Historically the ranch has been operated as a yearlong cow/calf operation with and estimated grazing capacity estimated to be between 70 and 80 head yearlong. The site topography varies from open rolling grassland to steep rough and rugged canyon lands along the Pecos River, which forms the ranch’s southern boundary. The vegetation includes grama grass, galleta with browse species along with pinon, cedar, juniper and some ponderosa pines along the river. The Pecos River is a scenic live water river; however river access is limited only by foot or horseback.

Improvements are comprised of one water well, storage tank, water pipeline and livestock drinkers that access each of four pastures. The water well is not in service, but water is currently pumped from the river to a holding pond with the use of gasoline powered centrifugal pump and 2 inch water line. The water line may be extended to the well storage tank to supply water to the pipeline system. There are numerous earthen tanks and diversion dams that hold and store water for livestock and wildlife. Wildlife includes mule deer, cougar, coyotes and many bird species. Wildlife habitat is excellent.
